Denim and Diamonds

5:30 to 9
I was at Denim and Diamonds---once again selling raffle tickets!

I always have so much fun with my pageant family, even if I was the only Teen titleholder there!

There were so many great vendors there, I have to say... I HAD to indulge on some BBQ ribs!

Made some new friends, and reconnected with some old ones as well!

Thanks Miss Heather Bruce!

February 25,
7'O Clock to 10.
I attended DIFA's Toast To Life Gala, a charity benefit where all proceeds went to HIV/AIDS research to find a cure! Some other local title holders and I sold raffle tickets to the attendees, and ate some yummy food from the vendors there. we were on our feet all night, and let me tell you, my feet were NUMB after 3 hours of standing! But what a great night! Thanks Miss Bobbie for this opportunity!

Colonial Gardens Alzheimer Center Family Night

Hello Internet!

January 19th,

I and some of my sister queens went to perform and mingle with the patients
at the Colonial Gardens Alzheimer Center Family Night (in Fort Worth)

And this was yet another amazing experiance, all made possible by MNTO, the Alzheimer patients there were so sweet!L

Turns out, one of the patients there, along with her daughter and close family, all knew Italian and said my pronunciation was great!

(On a side note, when I competed with my Italian piece in Solo and Ensemble, I got a Superior rating, and a medal! Yay Italian!)

Elderly people are so interesting, but unfortunately are sometimes forgotten in our society of successful young people. Please be thankful for the elderly of your family (in good health, or not). They are such wellsprings of wisdom and advice!

TCU Reading Event

Hello Internet!

Saturday January 7th, at Benbrook Middle School,  I attended TCU Reading Frogs "Score a Goal In the Classroom", encouraging 4-12 year olds to Read read READ!   Mayor of Benbrook Jerry Dittrich, and Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Walter Dansby were there!

What a GREAT experience. As a complete right brained thinker, it warmed my literature-filled heart  to see little readers, and older students reading to them! Nothing like a good book!:)

At the event, there were a bunch of people in fun costumes for the kids to take pictures with, and even a pool to FISH from. Every kid walked out of there with a couple books, some even walked away with a new BOOK SHELF!

Reading is so important, it helps you gain vocabulary, and for the math people out there... it helps with comprehension and problem solving.

You know... today I used the word "Ensue" in a conversation! Learned that word in a book!:)

With some of the characters, and the Benbrook Bobcat.... a close relative to a PLANO WILDCAT!;)

Have a Great day!!
